Workout motivation can be hard to find and maintain; but

In a perfect world, we would all have someone in charge of our health and fitness routine. They would wake up in the morning when we don’t feel like working out, push us to do one more rep when we are ready to quit, and slap the double cheeseburger out of our hand!

Since that world does not exist unless you are an A-list celebrity with an entourage of fitness professionals, we are on our own when it comes to being motivated. So how do we keep on keeping on and continue to reap the benefits of a fitness lifestyle? Here are a few tips to stay on track:

People walk more and lose weight just by wearing a fitness

ADELAIDE, Australia — If you can’t seem to find any motivation lately to get up off the couch, new research out of Australia reports it may be worth investing in a fitness tracker, smart watch, or pedometer. Scientists at the University of Southern Australia report a connection between wearable activity trackers, exercising more, and losing weight.

More specifically, the study finds these tracking devices encourage people to walk up to 40 minutes more per day (roughly 1,800 more steps). This results in an average weight loss of 2.2 pounds over the course of five months.

To research this topic, study authors reviewed nearly 400 studies encompassing 164,000 people living all over the globe who had been using wearable activity trackers (WATs) to monitor their physical activity.

All in all, what the research team discovered highlights the potentially major upside of low-cost interventions like fitness trackers when it comes to fighting the growing list of public health problems such obesity, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and mental illness.

Canadian TV host Sangita Patel urges fans to “just try” in

Sangita Patel is back with another dose of fitness inspiration.

On Tuesday, the “ET Canada” personality took to Instagram to share an inspirational and “impressive” workout video with her more than 130,000 followers, completing a mobility challenge — and urging her fans to try it for themselves.

“It’s #FitnessTuesday! Shocked I finished this insane ‘50’ step mobility challenge,” she captioned the video. “Not the smoothest transitions but I got up off the floor! Good luck! I have no advice on how to do this…just try.”

Patel’s post was met with applause for her progress and motivational message.

“You are my daily inspo,” one Instagram user penned, while another wrote, “That is so hard! Well done!”

“Love it. You are inspiring to get me moving, every day! Feels Amazing!” another added.

As almost half of women have done ‘no vigorous exercise in

Almost half of women have done no vigorous exercise in the past year, according to a new survey.

The findings come from data collected by Nuffield Health, with the majority of women saying they lacked motivation.

The percentages are lower for men, with just over a third saying they had not exercised in that period, and half putting it down to a lack of motivation.

The results of an online survey of 8,000 adults across the UK in February suggested that 38% of women said they had got out of the habit of exercising during lockdown.

So, how can you get back into the swing of things?

    How to stay motivated at the gym, according to personal

    Whether you’re a fitness guru or a workout novice, going to the gym or making time for exercise can sometimes feel like the last thing you want to do — especially after a long day at work.

    While studies have found that exercise is good for you whatever time of day you do it, and that it can bring both physical and mental health benefits, finding the motivation to actually get up and do it can sometimes be tricky.

    “In order to be motivated you need to have a solid understanding first about exactly what your motivation is,” Jessie Jones Williams, personal trainer at OriGym Centre of Excellence, tells The Independent.
